Captain Arthur Edward Capel was born in December 1881 at Brighton, Sussex, England.3 He was the son of Arthur Joseph Capel and Berthe Andrée A. E. Lorin.3 He married Hon. Diana Lister, daughter of Thomas Lister, 4th Baron Ribblesdale and Charlotte Monkton Tennant, in 1918.1 He died on 22 December 1919 at Cuers, France, in a car crash when the tyre on his Rolls Royce burst.4,3,2
He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)4 He and Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel were associated between 1909 and 1919.3 He gained the rank of Captain between 1914 and 1916 in the Cavalry Corps.4,2 He was Politicial Secretary to the British Section, Supreme War Council.2 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur in 1919.2
