     Captain Hugh Dalrymple was the son of Sir James Dalrymple of Hailes, 2nd Bt. and Lady Christian Hamilton.1 He married Lady Helen Wemyss, daughter of James Wemyss, 5th Earl of Wemyss and Janet Charteris, on 2 May 1754.1 He died on 11 December 1784, without issue.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.1
