Major Robert Edward John Compton1 
Major Robert Edward John Compton was born on 11 July 1922.3 He was the son of Major Edward Robert Francis Compton and Sylvia Farquharson of Invercauld.4 He married Ursula Jane Kenyon-Slaney, daughter of Major Robert Orlando Rodolph Kenyon-Slaney and Lady Mary Cecilia Rhodesia Hamilton, on 5 July 1951.1 He died on 14 November 2009 at age 87.5
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He was educated at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He fought in the Second World War in 1944, where he was wounded.4 He gained the rank of Major in the Coldstream Guards.3 He was with Time Life International between 1954 and 1990.4 He held the office of High Sheriff of North Yorkshire in 1978.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of North Yorkshire in 1981.3 He was awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour of the Royal Horticultural Society in 1993.4 He lived in 2003 at The Manor House, Marton le Moor, Ripon, Yorkshire, EnglandG.3
