Sir Claudius Stephen Hunter, 1st Bt.1 

Sir Claudius Stephen Hunter, 1st Bt. was born on 24 February 1775 at Beech Hill, Reading, Berkshire, England.1 He was the son of Henry Hunter and Mary Sloane.1 He married, firstly, Penelope Maria Free, daughter of James Free, on 15 July 1797.1 He married, secondly, Janet Fenton, daughter of James Fenton, on 25 October 1841.1 He died on 20 April 1851 at age 76 at Mortimer Hill, Reading, Berkshire, England.1
He was admitted to Lincoln’s Inn in 1797 entitled to practise as a solicitor.1 He held the office of Sheriff of London in June 1808.1 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London in 1811.1 He gained the title of 1st Baronet Hunter [U.K.] on 11 December 1812.
