     He was educated at St. Paul’s School, London, England^G.¹ He was educated at Leeds University, Leeds, Yorkshire, West Riding, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He gained the rank of Temporary Captain in the 50th (Northanptonshire Regiment), AA Battalion, Royal Engineers (TA.)¹ He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Gunning, of Eltham, co. Kent [G.B., 1778] on 29 January 1950.¹ He lived at Peace River, Alberta, Canada^G.¹ He lived at Eltham, Kent, England^G.¹

     Josephine Gunning was born on 30 June 1904.¹ She is the daughter of Charles Archibald John Gunning and Beatrice Constance Purvis.²

     Colonel George Hamilton Gunning was born on 3 November 1876.¹ He was the son of Major Charles George Gunning and Emma Cameron Logan.² He married, firstly, Wynifred Florence Langton Challice, daughter of Reverend Walter David Challice, on 2 June 1906.¹ He and Wynifred Florence Langton Challice were divorced in 1925.¹ He married, secondly, Sybil Viola Ashton, daughter of H. P. Ashton, in 1926.¹ He died on 6 December 1936 at age 60.¹
     He fought in the Tirah Campaign in 1897.¹ He fought in the Waziristan Campaign between 1901 and 1902.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.¹ He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Clonel.¹ He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.¹ He fought in the Afghan War in 1919.¹ He fought in the Waziristan Campaign between 1919 and 1920.¹ He was Colonel Commandant of the PAVO Cavalry, Indian Army.¹

     Reverend Walter David Challice lived at Hove, Sussex, England^G.¹ He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹

     Wynifred Florence Langton Challice was the daughter of Reverend Walter David Challice.² She married Colonel George Hamilton Gunning, son of Major Charles George Gunning and Emma Cameron Logan, on 2 June 1906.¹ She and Colonel George Hamilton Gunning were divorced in 1925.¹ She died on 22 September 1930.¹
     From 2 June 1906, her married name became Gunning.

     Major Jack Hamilton Gunning was born on 5 February 1907.¹ He was the son of Colonel George Hamilton Gunning and Wynifred Florence Langton Challice.² He married, firstly, Judith Clowes Castle, daughter of Captain Norton Clowes Castle, on 2 July 1938.¹ He married, secondly, Kathleen Irene Wilson, daughter of P. W. A. Wilson, on 4 August 1951.¹ He died on 26 November 1956 at age 49.¹
     He gained the rank of Major in the Bombay Grenadier, Indian Army.¹

     Herbert John Elmhirst was born in 1861.¹ He was the son of Reverend William Elmhirst and Ann Elizabeth Pasmore Heaton.¹

     Judith Clowes Castle was the daughter of Captain Norton Clowes Castle.² She married Major Jack Hamilton Gunning, son of Colonel George Hamilton Gunning and Wynifred Florence Langton Challice, on 2 July 1938.¹ She died on 10 May 1942.¹
     From 2 July 1938, her married name became Gunning.

     Captain John Benjamin Lionel Underwood is the son of Lt.-Col. J. B. Underwood.¹ He married Cherry Hamilton Gunning, daughter of Major Jack Hamilton Gunning and Judith Clowes Castle, on 19 May 1962.¹
     He retired from the military, with the rank of Captain, late of the King’s Own Royal Border Regiment.¹

     Cherry Hamilton Gunning was born on 8 September 1939.¹ She was the daughter of Major Jack Hamilton Gunning and Judith Clowes Castle.² She married Captain John Benjamin Lionel Underwood, son of Lt.-Col. J. B. Underwood, on 19 May 1962.¹ She died on 13 July 2017 at age 77.³
     From 19 May 1962, her married name became Underwood. She lived in 2003 at 9 Linkfield, West Molesey, Surrey, England^G.¹
