Stirling [Great Britain] on 23 November 1762.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Edinburgh between 1768 and 1790.2 He held the office of Vice-Admiral of Shetland and Orkney.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1771.2

Lady Hester Joan Byng usually went by her middle name of Joan.1 From 10 June 1913, her married name became Mulholland. She held the office of Lady-in-Waiting to HRH THe Princess Royal between 1918 and 1922.1 After her marriage, Lady Hester Joan Byng was styled as Countess of the County of Cavan on 27 November 1922. From 27 November 1922, her married name became Lambart.2 She was appointed Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1927.2
