     He was educated at Sedbergh School, Sedbergh, Cumbria, England^G.¹ He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War, with the Canadian Army.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Headquarters, Pacific Command.¹ As of 1976, Captain James Franklin McMahon Bland lived at 14 Tullybrannigan Road, Newcastle, County Down, Ireland^G.¹

     Jess Buchan Brodie is the daughter of Major Harry Campbell Brodie.¹ She married Captain James Franklin McMahon Bland, son of Francis Christopher Cecil Bland and Mary Green Uprichard, on 29 February 1936.¹
     From 29 February 1936, her married name became Bland.¹

     Major Harry Campbell Brodie was born on 22 June 1875.² He died on 26 August 1968 at age 93.²

     Francis Christopher Buchan Bland was born on 29 May 1938.¹ He was the son of Captain James Franklin McMahon Bland and Jess Buchan Brodie.¹ He married Jennifer Mary Denise May, daughter of Rt. Hon. William Morrison May, in 1981.² He died on 28 January 2017 at age 78.³
