     Alexander Duff of Davidson was born on 24 November 1725.1 He was the son of John Duff and Mary Gordon.1 He married Magdalen Duff, daughter of William Duff, 1st of Muirtown and Mary Baillie, in 1771.2 He died on 24 January 1778 at age 52.3
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 89th Regiment.4
