Elizabeth Cary was born circa 1740.1 She was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Hon. George Cary and Isabella Ingram.1 She married Field Marshal Jeffrey Amherst, 1st Baron Amherst of Holmesdale, son of Jeffrey Amherst and Elizabeth Kerrill, on 26 March 1767 at Clifford Street, St. James’s, London, EnglandG.1 She died on 22 May 1830 at Hill Street, London, EnglandG.1 She was buried at Sevenoaks, Kent, EnglandG.1 Her will was proven (by probate) in July 1830.1
From 26 March 1767, her married name became Amherst.1 After her marriage, Elizabeth Cary was styled as Baroness Amherst of Holmesdale on 20 May 1776.
