     He was appointed Knight in 1684.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the City of London in 1685.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for the City of London from 1689 to 1690.3 He held the office of Lord Mayor of London from 1702 to 1703.3 He was ancestor of the Bateman Dashwoods of Well Vale.3
