William Linnaeus Gardner was born in 1770 at Livingston House, New York, U.S.A.1 He was the son of Major James Valentine Gardner and Alida Livingston.1 He married Manzil Khan Nawab Mah Manzil un-nissa Begum Dehlivi, daughter of H.E. Muhammad Mumin Khan II Khan Najm ud-Daula Nawab Muftaqir Nur ud-din Muhammad Mumin Khan II Bahadur, circa 1796.1 He died on 29 July 1835 at Khasgunge Estate, Khasganj, India.1
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Kassaghunge Irregular Cavalry.2 He gained the rank of Commandant in the Gardner’s Horse.1
