John St. Loe Strachey1 
John St. Loe Strachey usually went by his middle name of St. Loe.2 He graduated from Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, in 1884 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1,2 He was admitted to Inner Temple in 1885 entitled to practise as a barrister.2 He was editor of The Spectator between 1887 and 1925.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Surrey.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Surrey.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Surrey in 1914.2

Evelyn St. John Loe Strachey was born on 21 October 1901 at Guildford, London, England.1 He was the son of John St. Loe Strachey and Henrietta Mary Amy Simpson.1 He married, firstly, Esther Murphy, daughter of Patrick Francis Murphy, on 24 April 1929.3 He and Esther Murphy were divorced in 1933.3 He married, secondly, Celia Simpson, daughter of Reverend Arthur Hume Simpson, on 13 October 1933.3 He died on 15 July 1963 at age 61.1
