     Colonel Alexander MacDonald, 3rd of Boisdale was born in 1760 at Tiree, South Uist, Scotland.² He was the son of Colin Macdonald, 2nd of Boisdale and Margaret Campbell.¹ He married Marion Maclean, daughter of Hugh Maclean, 14th of Coll and Janet Macleod, on 11 June 1783 at South Uist, Scotland.² He died on 20 October 1818 at Laswadde House, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.²
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 71st Regiment.¹ He fought in the American War of Independence between 1775 and 1783.¹ He retired from the military, with the rank of Colonel.¹

She was baptised on 14 March 1840 at St. Mary, Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales.² She married John Charles Leonard, son of Edward Leonard, on 28 February 1862 at St. Peter’s Church, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^3,1 She married Henry Turner in 1873 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England.^3,1 She died in October 1887 at age 47 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England.¹
     From 28 February 1862, her married name became Leonard.¹ From 1873, her married name became Turner.¹

     Hector MacDonald was born in 1827 at South Uist, Scotland.¹ He was the son of Hugh Macdonald, 4th of Boisdale. He died in 1855 at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.¹

     Alexander Campbell MacDonald was born on 14 September 1838 at Swansea, Glamorgan, Wales.¹ He was the son of Hugh Macdonald, 4th of Boisdale and Mary Hender. He died on 10 July 1856 at age 17 at Demerara-Mahaica, Guyana.¹
