     Roderick ‘The Resolute’ Macneil, 20th of Barra was the son of Roderick Macneil, 19th of Barra and Alice Macleod.2 He married, firstly, Anne Macneil, daughter of Hector Macneil, 3rd of Vaslan.1 He married, secondly, Anne Macneil, daughter of Donald Macneil, 1st of Vatersay.2 He died in 1759 at Heights of Abraham, Quebec, Canada, killed in action, along with Wolfe.2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Fraser’s Highlanders, and with Donald Macdonald of Clanranald went with his regiment to Canada during war with the French.1
