He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire in 1939.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Derbyshire Yeomanry (TA.)1 He was chairman of Ley’s Malleable Castings Company.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Derbyshire in 1956.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Derbyshire in 1957.1 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1961.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Ley, of Epperstone Manor, Epperstone, co. Nottingham [U.K., 1905] on 24 March 1980.1
