He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.2 He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded twice and mentioned in despatches twice.2 He gained the rank of Captain and Adjutant in the 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards.2
He gained the rank of Captain in the The Rifle Brigade.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.)2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1918 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1921 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He graduated from London University, London, EnglandG, in 1927 with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)2 He wrote the book Until Philosophers Are Kings, published 1928.2 He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Chance, of Grand Avenue, Hove, co. Sussex [U.K., 1900] on 9 April 1935.2 He was Press Attaché, British Embassy, Berlin in 1938.2 He gained the rank of Squadron leader in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1941.2 He wrote the book The End of Man, published 1974.2
