     Rhoda Johnston was the daughter of Oliver Charles Johnston.² She married Major Frederick Rainsford Hannay of Kirkdale, son of Captain Thomas Rainsford and Jane Hannay, on 26 November 1840.¹ She died on 25 December 1865.¹
     From 26 November 1840, her married name became Rainsford Hannay.

     Colonel Ramsay William Rainsford-Hannay of Kirkdale was born on 9 September 1844.¹ He was the son of Major Frederick Rainsford Hannay of Kirkdale and Rhoda Johnston.² He married Helen Jane Brancker, daughter of John Brancker, on 30 December 1874.¹ He died on 11 November 1932 at age 88.¹
     He was educated at Windermere College, England^G.¹ He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England^G.¹ In 1893 he had the centre portion of Kirkdale house rebuilt after its gutting by fire, an open Victorian hall and gallery replacing the central Adam staircase and enclosed gallery.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.)¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in the Royal Artillery.¹

     Percival Rainsford Hannay was born on 1 August 1851.¹ He was the son of Major Frederick Rainsford Hannay of Kirkdale and Rhoda Johnston.² He died in 1941.¹

     Brig.-Gen. Frederick Rainsford Hannay was born on 7 September 1854.¹ He was the son of Major Frederick Rainsford Hannay of Kirkdale and Rhoda Johnston.² He married Emily Louisa Wilkie, daughter of David Elliot Wilkie, on 19 May 1891.¹ He died on 23 December 1950 at age 96.¹
     He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the Royal Engineers.¹ He was Commandant between 1907 and 1908 at School of Military Engineering, Roorkee, India^G.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1911.¹ He was Commandant between 1914 and 1917 at School of Military Engineering, Roorkee, India^G.¹ He was Director of Fortifications and Works, Army HQ.¹ He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.¹

     David Elliot Wilkie lived at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia^G.¹ He lived at Rathobyres, Midlothian, Scotland^G.¹

     Emily Louisa Wilkie was the daughter of David Elliot Wilkie.² She married Brig.-Gen. Frederick Rainsford Hannay, son of Major Frederick Rainsford Hannay of Kirkdale and Rhoda Johnston, on 19 May 1891.¹ She died on 20 May 1952.¹
     From 19 May 1891, her married name became Rainsford Hannay.

     James Clark lived at The Estate Office, Whitfield, Hexham, Northumberland, England^G.¹

     Sir William Francis Maxwell of Cardoness, 4th Bt. was born on 19 June 1844. He was the son of Sir William Maxwell, 3rd Bt. and Mary Sprot.²
     He gained the title of 4th Baronet Maxwell [U.K.].
