Charles William FitzGerald, 4th Duke of Leinster1 
Charles William FitzGerald, 4th Duke of Leinster was born on 30 March 1819 at Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.3 He was the son of Augustus Frederick FitzGerald, 3rd Duke of Leinster and Hon. Charlotte Augusta Stanhope.1 He married Lady Caroline Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, daughter of George Granville Sutherland-Leveson-Gower, 2nd Duke of Sutherland and Lady Harriet Elizabeth Georgiana Howard, on 13 October 1847 at Trentham, Staffordshire, EnglandG.3 He died on 10 February 1887 at age 67.3
He was educated in 1839 at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He was Commissioner of National Education for Ireland between 1841 and 1887.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for County Kildare between 1847 and 1852.3 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the 3rd Battalion, Dublin Fusiliers.3 He wrote the book The Earls of Kildare (ASIN: B0092HPZGQ.)3 He held the office of Chancellor of Queen’s University, Ireland between 1870 and 1881.3 He was created 1st Baron Kildare of Kildare, co. Kildare [U.K.] on 3 May 1870.3 He succeeded as the 4th Viscount Leinster of Taplow, co. Buckingham [G.B., 1747] on 10 October 1874.1 He succeeded as the 4th Earl of Offaly [I., 1761] on 10 October 1874.1 He succeeded as the 4th Marquess of Kildare [I., 1761] on 10 October 1874.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baron Offaly [I., 1599] on 10 October 1874.1 He succeeded as the 4th Duke of Leinster [I., 1766] on 10 October 1874.1 He succeeded as the 23rd Earl of Kildare [I., 1316] on 10 October 1874.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] in 1879.3
