General Hon. William Gordon1

General Hon. William Gordon was born between 1730 and 1737.1 He was the son of William Gordon, 2nd Earl of Aberdeen and Lady Anne Gordon.1 He died on 25 May 1816, unmarried.1
He gained the rank of Colonel on 26 July 1756 in the 11th Regiment of Dragoons.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Woodstock in 1767.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Heytesbury in 1774.3 He held the office of Groom of the Bedchamber to King George III on 7 April 1775.3 He gained the rank of General on 1 January 1798.3 He lived at Fyvie Castle, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.3

Colonel Hon. Cosmo Gordon1 
He was commissioned in 1755, in the service of the 3rd Regiment of Guards.2 He was of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Regiment of Guards in America.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in 1780.2 He retired from the military in 1783, with the rank of Colonel.2

Sir William Duff Gordon, 2nd Bt.1 
He was given the name of William Gordon at birth.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Worcester in 1807.3 On 9 October 1813 his name was legally changed to William Duff Gordon by Royal Licence.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Duff, of Halkin, co. Ayr [U.K., 1813] on 20 November 1815.2

Sir James Duff, 1st Bt.1 
He held the office of British Consul to Cadiz in 1790.2 He was created 1st Baronet Duff, of Halkin, co. Ayr [U.K.] on 12 November 1813, with special remainder to his nephew, William Duff.1

He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1917 in the Royal Horse Artillery.1 He was in the Diplomatic Corps, where he was Consul Porto Alegre in 1921.1 He gained the rank of Major, as a General Staff Officer in 1940.1 He was in the Foreign Service in 1945.1
