     James Forbes married Katharine Bethune, daughter of James Bethune, 6th of Creich and Margaret Wemyss.¹

     Helen Forbes was the daughter of James Forbes and Katharine Bethune.^2,1 She married Reverend John Makgill, son of James Makgill and Katherine Clephane, on 25 April 1647.¹ She died on 20 July 1665.¹
     From 25 April 1647, her married name became Makgill.

     John Ramsay of Brackmont married Margaret Bruce, daughter of Captain James Bruce of Newburn.¹
     He was a practising advocate.¹

     Janet Ramsay was the daughter of John Ramsay of Brackmont and Margaret Bruce.^2,1 She married Arthur Makgill, son of Reverend John Makgill and Helen Forbes, on 6 April 1675.¹ She died on 8 April 1687.¹
     From 6 April 1675, her married name became Makgill.

     John Makgill was born on 13 June 1676.¹ He was the son of Arthur Makgill and Janet Ramsay.² He married Agnes Lindsay, daughter of John Lindsay and Margaret Haliburton, on 13 June 1706.¹ He died on 19 April 1762 at age 85.¹
     He succeeded as the 5th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] on 26 September 1747, de jure.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] on 26 September 1747, de jure.¹ He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] on 26 September 1747, de jure.¹ On 24 July 1751 he served heir to his cousin.¹ He also had three daughters.¹

     Margarete von Bayern was born on 7 November 1456 at Amberg, Germany.² She was the daughter of Ludwig IX Herzog von Bayern-Landshut and Amalia Prinzessin von Sachsen.² She married Philip Kurfürst von der Pfalz, son of Ludwig IV Kurfürst von der Pfalz and Margherita Principessa di Savoia-Achaea, in 1474.¹ She died in 1501 at Heidelberg, Germany.²

     Agnes Lindsay is the daughter of John Lindsay and Margaret Haliburton.² She married John Makgill, son of Arthur Makgill and Janet Ramsay, on 13 June 1706.¹
     From 13 June 1706, her married name became Makgill.

     Arthur Makgill was born on 18 May 1709.¹ He was the son of John Makgill and Agnes Lindsay.² He died circa December 1777, unmarried.¹ He was buried on 15 December 1777.¹
     He was Captain Commandant of the a Scottish Regiment in Dutch service.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] on 19 April 1762, de jure.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] on 19 April 1762, de jure.¹ He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] on 19 April 1762, de jure.¹ He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms as as heir male of Rankeillour, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court as heir male of Rankeillour in 1771.¹

     John Makgill was born on 21 September 1715.¹ He was the son of John Makgill and Agnes Lindsay.² He died in November 1741 at age 26, without issue.¹
     He lived at Jamaica^G.¹

     George Makgill was born on 6 September 1723.¹ He was the son of John Makgill and Agnes Lindsay.² He married Agnes Law, daughter of Mungo Law and Janet Pilmore.¹ He died on 26 August 1797 at age 73.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 12th Foot, British Army.¹ He fought in the Battle of Preston, with the Jacobite Army.¹ He fought in the Battle of Culloden, where he was wounded and narrowly escaped capture.¹ He went to France and was eventually pardoned.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Lord Makgill of Cousland [S., 1651] circa December 1777, de jure.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Makgill [N.S., 1627] circa December 1777, de jure.¹ He succeeded as the 7th Viscount of Oxfuird [S., 1651] circa December 1777, de jure.¹
