He was an Advocate [Scotland] on 4 December 1773.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Elginshire in 1783.1 He held the office of Sheriff of Nairnshire in 1783.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Abercromby, of Birkenbog, co. Banff [N.S., 1636] on 11 March 1787, and, from 1803, ‘of Forglen House, co. Banff.1‘ He lived in 1803 at Forglen House, Banffshire, ScotlandG.1 He held the office of Clerk for the admission of Notars in 1807.1

Hon. Jane Ogilvy1

Hon. Jane Ogilvy was born circa 1750.3 She was the daughter of Sir Alexander Ogilvy, 7th Lord Banff and Jean Nisbet.1 She married Sir George Abercromby of Birkenbog, 4th Bt., son of Sir Robert Abercromby of Birkenbog, 3rd Bt. and Helen Abercromby, in 1778.1 She died on 29 April 1838 at Forglen House, Banffshire, Scotland.3
Her married name became Abercromby.

Sir Alexander Ogilvy, 7th Lord Banff1 
He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Ogilvie, of Forglen, co. Banff [S., 1701] in 1727.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Ogilvie [S., 1627] in November 1746.2 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Banff [S., 1642] in November 1746.2 His last will was dated 2 August 1766.

William Ogilvy, 8th Lord Banff1 
He succeeded as the 3rd Baronet Ogilvie, of Forglen, co. Banff [S., 1701] on 1 September 1771.2 He succeeded as the 8th Baronet Ogilvie [S., 1627] on 1 September 1771.2 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Banff [S., 1642] on 1 September 1771.2 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1773 in the Enniskillen (6th) Regiment of Dragoons.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1778.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1780.2
On his death, the title Lord of Banff became dormant (and possibly extinct), and the estate of Forglen passed to the family of his sister, Jane.1
