William Graham, 7th Earl of Menteith1 
He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Menteith [S., 1427] in December 1598.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Scotland] in 1626/27.1 He held the office of Lord Justice General in 1628.1 He held the office of Extra Lord of Session between 1628 and 1633.1 He held the office of Lord President of the Council [Scotland] between 1628 and 1633.1 On 13 August 1629 he waived his rights to the title of Earl of Strathearn.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1630.1 He was created 1st Earl of Airth [Scotland] on 28 March 1633, with precedency of 6 September 1428.3 He held the office of Lord President of the Council [Scotland] between 1639 and 1661.1 On 11 January 1643/44 he was regranted the title of Earl of Menteith with remainder to his heirs male whomsoever.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.4
