Sir John Francis Davis, 1st Bt.1 
Sir John Francis Davis, 1st Bt. was born in 1795. He was the son of Samuel Davis and Henrietta Boileau.1,3 He married Emily Humfrays, daughter of Lt.-Col. Richard Humfrays, in 1822.3 He married Lucy Ellen Rocke, daughter of Reverend Thomas James Rocke, in 1867.3 He died on 13 November 1890 at Hollywood Tower, Bristol, England.
He lived at Hollywood, Gloucestershire, England.1 He was Chief Superintendent of British trade in China between 1844 and 1848. He held the office of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Hong Kong between 1844 and 1848. He was created 1st Baronet Davis on 18 July 1845. He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 12 June 1854.4
