     He was educated at Gordonstoun School, Elgin, Morayshire, ScotlandG.1 He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He was educated at Upper Canada College, Toronto, Ontario, CanadaG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was educated at Harper Adams Agricultural College, Edgmond, Newport, Shropshire, EnglandG.1 He was Master of the Foxhounds, David Davies between 1947 and 1976.1 He was founder of Cambrian Land Ltd (3,000acre mixed farming enterprise.)1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Univeristy of Wales, WalesG, in 1978.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1986.1 He was chairman of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (Gold Medallist ), Montgomeryshire CLA and Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity (fnded by his aunts) in 1987.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Montgomeryshire.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Agricultural Society (F.R.Ag.S.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Powys before 2001.1
