She was property manager of the National Trust Scotland’s Georgian House at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 From 29 April 1995, her married name became Charteris. After her marriage, Shelagh Kathleen Thrift was styled as Countess of Wemyss on 29 April 1995.
Annabella Yorke, Countess de Grey of Wrest1

Annabella Yorke, Countess de Grey of Wrest was born on 22 January 1751.3 She was the daughter of Philip Yorke, 2nd Earl of Hardwicke and Jemima Campbell, Marchioness Grey.4 She married Alexander Hume-Campbell, 1st Baron Hume of Berwick, son of Hugh Hume-Campbell, 3rd Earl of Marchmont and Elizabeth Crompton, on 16 July 1772.3 She died on 4 May 1833 at age 82, without issue.3
From 16 July 1772, her married name became Hume-Campbell.3 She succeeded as the 5th Baroness Lucas of Crudwell, co. Wilts [E., 1663] on 10 January 1797.3 She was created 1st Countess de Grey of Wrest, co. Bedford [U.K.] on 25 October 1816, with a special to remainder to her sister Mary Jemima Yorke, and her male heirs.1

Alexander Hume-Campbell, 1st Baron Hume of Berwick1 
He was styled as Viscount Polwarth between 1750 and 1776.2 He was given the name of Alexander Hume at birth.2 His name was legally changed to Alexander Hume-Campbell.2 He was created 1st Baron Hume of Berwick [Great Britain] on 20 May 1776, in the lifetime of his father.1 On his death, his barony expired.2

Hugh Hume-Campbell, 3rd Earl of Marchmont was born on 15 February 1708.1 He was the son of Alexander Hume-Campbell, 2nd Earl of Marchmont and Margaret Campbell.3 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Crompton, daughter of Windmill Crompton, on 30 January 1747/48.1 He married, firstly, Anne Western, daughter of Robert Western, on 1 May 1731.1 He died on 10 January 1794 at age 85, without surviving male issue |All of his titles bar the Lordship of Parliament of Polwarth became dormant.1
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (anti-Walpole Whig) for Berwickshire between 1734 and 1740.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Hume of Polwarth [S., 1625] on 27 February 1740.3 He succeeded as the 3rd Earl of Marchmont [S., 1697] on 27 February 1740.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Polwarth [S., 1690] on 27 February 1740.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Polwarth of Polwarth, Rebraes and Greenlaw [S., 1697] on 27 February 1739/40.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Viscount Blasonberrie [S., 1697] on 27 February 1739/40.1 He held the office of Representative Scottish Peer between 1750 and 1784.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1762.1 He was Governor of the Bank of Scotland between 1763 and 1790.1 He held the office of Keeper of the Great Seal of Scotland between 1764 and 1794.1
