Gilbert Henry Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby, 1st Earl of Ancaster1 
He was given the name of Gilbert Henry Heathcote at birth.1 He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Boston between 1852 and 1856.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Rutland between 1856 and 1867.1 He succeeded as the 6th Baronet Heathcote, of the City of London [G.B., 1733] on 6 September 1867.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Aveland, of Aveland, co. Lincoln [U.K., 1856] on 6 September 1867.3 He held the office of Deputy Lord Great Chamberlain between 24 January 1871 and 22 January 1901.1 On 4 May 1872 his name was legally changed to Gilbert Henry Heathcote-Drummond-Willoughby by Royal Licence.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1880.1 He succeeded as the 25th Lord Willoughby de Eresby [E., 1313] on 13 November 1888.3 He was created 1st Earl of Ancaster [U.K.] on 22 August 1892.1
