He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the South Irish Horse.1 He was awarded the Croix de Guerre.1 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Colthurst, of Ardum, co. Cork [I., 1744] on 25 December 1925.1 He was Master of Foxhounds for Muskerry between 1930 and 1944.1
