Colonel William Mure of Caldwell1 
Colonel William Mure of Caldwell was born on 9 July 1799.3 He was the son of William Mure of Caldwell and Anne Hunter Blair.3,4 He married Laura Markham, daughter of William Markham and Elizabeth Bowles, on 7 February 1825.3 He died on 1 April 1860 at age 60.3
He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, England.4 He was educated at Edinburgh University, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.4 He graduated from Bonn University, Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfahlen, GermanyG.4 He wrote the book Brief Remarks on the Chronology of the Egyptian Dynasties, published 1829.4 He gained the rank of Colonel in the Renfrew Militia.4 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Renfrewshire between 1846 and 1855.1,4 He wrote the book A Critical History of the Language and Literature of Ancient Greece, published 1847.4 He held the office of Lord Rector of Glasgow University between 1847 and 1848.4 He wrote the book A Critical History of the Language and Literature of Ancient Greece, published between 1850 and 1857.4 He lived at Caldwell, Ayrshire, ScotlandG.1
