Kenneth Sutherland, 3rd Lord Duffus1 
He was commissioned, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Duffus [S., 1650] on 24 September 1705.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.2 He fought in the he was severely wounded in action against the French, and was captured on 29 June 1711.1 He fought in the 1715 Rising in 1715.1 In 1716 He was attainted, and gave himself up. After a short stay in the Tower of London, he was released in 1717 without trial.1 He gained the rank of oficer in the Russian Navy.1

Sir James Dunbar of Hempriggs, 1st Bt.1 
His name was legally changed to James Dunbar.4 He was given the name of James Sutherland at birth.1 He was created 1st Baronet Dunbar, of Hempriggs, co. Caithness [Nova Scotia] on 10 December 1706, with a special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.3

Sir William Dunbar of Hempriggs, 1st Bt.1 
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Caithness in 1678.1 He purchased the estate of Telstane, which he renamed as Hempriggs in 1691.3 He was created 1st Baronet Dunbar, of Northfield [Nova Scotia] on 10 April 1700, with a special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.1

James Sutherland, 4th Lord Duffus1 
On 25 May 1826 his grandfather’s attainder was reversed.2 He succeeded as the 4th Lord Duffus [S., 1650] on 25 May 1826, restored by Act of Parliament.1 On his death, his Lordship became dormant, it being uncertain what the original remainder had been (e.g., to heirs general (which could include females and their issue), heirs male of the body or some other one such as heirs male whatsoever.)2
