Eric Sutherland of Duffus1

     Eric Sutherland of Duffus was baptised on 29 August 1710.2 He was the son of Kenneth Sutherland, 3rd Lord Duffus and Charlotte Christina de Siobladem.2 He married Elizabeth Dunbar, daughter of Sir James Dunbar of Hempriggs, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth Dunbar.2 He died on 15 March 1769 at age 58.2 He was also reported to have died on 28 August 1768.3
     He gained the rank of Ensign in 1731 in the Disney’s Regiment.2 In 1734 his claim to the title of Lord Duffus was disallowed.2 He gained the rank of Captain in 1759 in the Sutherland’s Regiment.2
