     Nicola Herries is the daughter of Robert Herries of Mabie.¹ She married Sir John Grierson, 6th of Lag, son of Roger Grierson and Agnes Douglas, in 1529.¹
     From 1529, her married name became Grierson.¹

     William Grierson, 7th of Lag was born circa 1529 at Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.² He was the son of Sir John Grierson, 6th of Lag and Nicola Herries.¹ He married Elizabeth Gordon, daughter of Sir James Gordon of Lochinvar and Margaret Crichton, in 1550.¹ He died before 9 March 1562.^1,2
     On 10 August 1549 he had sasine of Lag.¹

     Katherine Gordon is the daughter of Sir James Gordon of Lochinvar and Margaret Crichton.¹ She married Thomas McCulloch of Cardoness, son of Alexander McCulloch of Cardoness and Elizabeth McClellane, on 29 March 1560.¹

     Sir James Gordon of Lochinvar was born in 1501. He was the son of Sir Robert Gordon of Lochinvar and Mariota Acarsane.^2,3 He married Margaret Crichton, daughter of Robert Crichton of Kirkpatrick, after 1520.² He died on 10 September 1547, killed in action.⁴
     He lived at Lochinvar, Scotland^G.² He fought in the Battle of Pinkie on 10 September 1547.⁴

     John Grierson was the son of William Grierson, 7th of Lag and Elizabeth Gordon.¹ He died, without issue.¹

     David Scott was born in 1645.² He married Nicola Grierson, daughter of Sir John Grierson of Lag and Isabel Boyd.³ He died in 1718.²
     He lived at Scotstarvet, Fife, Scotland^G.¹

     Nicola Grierson was born circa 1650.² She was the daughter of Sir John Grierson of Lag and Isabel Boyd.^3,1 She married David Scott.³
     Her married name became Scott.³ She was also known as Marjory.³

     Sir John Grierson of Lag was born circa 1623.² He was the son of Sir Robert Grierson of Lag and Margaret Murray.³ He married by contract, firstly, Jane Fleming, daughter of John Fleming, on 19 October 1641.^3,2 He married by contract, secondly, Isabel Boyd, daughter of Robert Boyd, 7th Lord Boyd of Kilmarnock and Lady Christian Hamilton, on 10 October 1646.^3,4 He died on 26 February 1658.² He was also reported to have died in April 1658.¹ His will was proven (by probate) on 7 December 1658.²

     Janet Grierson was born circa 1535 at Dumfries-shire, Scotland^G.² She was the daughter of Sir John Grierson, 6th of Lag and Nicola Herries.¹ She married John Schaw of Haly.¹
     Her married name became Schaw.¹
