     Captain William Peter Cockburn was the son of Lt.-Col. Wemyss Thomas Cockburn and Amelia (?)2 He married Johanna Charlotte Forbes, daughter of Lt.-Col. David Forbes, on 3 July 1844 at St. Pauls, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, ScotlandG.2 He died on 20 March 1853.2
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 18th Royal Irish Regiment.1
