Maj.-Gen. Nathaniel William Massey, 2nd Baron Clarina of Elm Park1 
He matriculated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG, on 12 April 1790.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Clarina of Elm Park, co. Limerick [I., 1800] on 17 March 1804.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1808.1

Hugh Barton1 
He was imprisoned as an alien during the reign of terror between 1793 and 1794 but by the connivance of his wife he escaped to Ireland. Daniel Guestier managed the Bordeaux business in his absence. This partnership has continued from father to son from 1802 to the present day.2 He lived in 1828 at Grove House, Fethard, County Tipperary, IrelandG.2 He acquired a large fortune in Bordeaux with which he purchased the Straffan House, Straffan, County Kildare, IrelandG, and other lands, including Cootehall, County Roscommon in 1831, and the Château Langoa and a portion of the adjacent property of Leoville, both in the parish of St. Julien Médoc, near Bordeaux.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Kildare in 1840.2 He lived at Battle Abbey, Battle, Sussex, EnglandG.2

He was educated between 1843 and 1844 at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.3 He was commissioned in 1847, in the service of the British Army.2 He fought in the Siege of Sebastopol.2 He was awarded the Order of the Medjidie in 1856.2 He gained the rank of Major in 1857 in the 95th Foot.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1858.2 He fought in the Indian Mutiny.2 He was awarded the Chevalier, Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Colonel in 1865.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1870.2 He succeeded as the 4th Baron Clarina of Elm Park, co.
