     Alexander Elphinstone of Glack was born on 3 April 1801.¹ He was the son of John Elphinstone of Glack and Maria Prudence Robertson.² He married, firstly, Charlotte Hunter, daughter of William Hunter and Charlotte Robertson, on 28 June 1831.¹ He married, secondly, Margaret Rachel Roberts on 19 August 1868.^3,4 He died on 28 November 1888 at age 87.¹
