Thomas Butler, 2nd Baron Caher1 
He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Caher [I., 1583] on 28 April 1596.1 In 1599 Caher Castle was captured by the Ear of Essex, and Thomas held prisoner, although his wife and brother refused to give it up.1 In 1599 he joined in Tyrone’s rebellion, but then surrendered, and was attainted.1 On 27 May 1601 he was pardoned for all treason and crimes.1
