Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Montagu1 
Rt. Hon. Sir Edward Montagu was born circa 1487.1 He was the son of Thomas Montague and Agnes Dudley.1 He married, firstly, Cicely Lane, daughter of William Lane, in September 1512.1 He married, secondly, Cicely Kirkham, daughter of George Kirkham, in 1527.1 He married, thirdly, Eleanor Roper, daughter of John Roper and Jane Fyneux, before May 1533.1 He died on 10 February 1556/57.1
He was educated at Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.1 He was admitted to Middle Temple.1 He held the office of Chief Justice of the King’s Bench between 1539 and 1545.1 He held the office of Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas between 1545 and 1554.1 He held the office of imprisoned on the Tower of London on Queen Mary’s succession, and he bought his way out two months later by payment of a substantial amount of cash and property in July 1553.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.)1 He was appointed Knight in 1557.1
