Ronald Crauford Munro-Ferguson, 1st and last Viscount Novar1 
Ronald Crauford Munro-Ferguson, 1st and last Viscount Novar was born on 6 March 1860.1 He was the son of Colonel Robert Munro Ferguson.1 He married Lady Helen Hermione Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, daughter of Frederick Temple Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava and Hariot Georgina Rowan-Hamilton, on 31 August 1889.1 He died on 30 March 1934 at age 74, without issue.1
He was commissioned in 1875, in the service of the 1st Fifeshire Light Horse.1 He was commissioned in 1879, in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Ross and Cromarty between 1884 and 1885.1 He was Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in 1886.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Leith Burghs between 1886 and 1914.1 He was Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs between 1892 and 1894.1 He held the office of Junior Lord of the Treasury between 1894 and 1895.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1910.1 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1914.1 He held the office of Governor-General of Australia between 1914 and 1920.1 He was created 1st Viscount Novar, of Raith, co. Fife [U.K.] on 6 December 1920.1 On 6 December 1920 created (1st and last) Viscount Novar.3 He held the office of Secretary of State for Scotland between 1922 and 1924.1 He was chairman of the Political Honours Commitee in 1925.1 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1926.1 He held the office of Vice-Lord-Lieutenant of Fife in 1926.1 On his death, his title became extinct.1
