John Charles Ogilvy-Grant, 7th Earl of Seafield was born on 4 September 1815.1,3 He was the son of Colonel Francis William Ogilvy-Grant, 6th Earl of Seafield and Mary Anne Dunn.1 He married Hon. Caroline Henrietta Stuart, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Robert Walter Stuart, 11th Lord Blantyre and Fanny Mary Rodney, on 12 August 1850.1 He died on 18 February 1881 at age 65.4
He was commissioned in 1828 with the rank of Midshipman, in the service of the Royal Navy.3 He was appointed Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1853 and 1858.3 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount of Seafield [S., 1698] on 30 July 1853.5 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Ogilvy of Cullen [S., 1698] on 30 July 1853.5 He succeeded as the 7th Earl of Seafield [S., 1701] on 30 July 1853.5 He succeeded as the 11th Baronet Colquhoun, of Luss [N.S., 1625] on 30 July 1853.5 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Ogilvy of Deskford and Cullen [S., 1701] on 30 July 1853.5 He succeeded as the 7th Viscount of Reidhaven [S., 1701] on 30 July 1853.5 He was created 1st Baron Strathspey of Strathspey, in the counties of Inverness and Moray [U.K.] on 14 August 1858.3 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Thistle (K.T.) in 1879.4

Ian Charles Ogilvy-Grant, 8th Earl of Seafield was born on 7 October 1851 at Moray Place, Edinburgh, Midlothian, ScotlandG.1,3 He was the son of John Charles Ogilvy-Grant, 7th Earl of Seafield and Hon. Caroline Henrietta Stuart.1 He died on 31 March 1884 at age 32, without issue.4
He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.5 He gained the rank of Cornet in 1869 in the 1st Life Guards.4 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1871 in the 1st Life Guards.5 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Banffshire and Inverness-shire.5 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount of Seafield [S., 1698] on 18 February 1881.5 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Strathspey of Strathspey, in the counties of Inverness and Moray [U.K., 1858] on 18 February 1881.4 He succeeded as the 12th Baronet Colquhoun, of Luss [N.S., 1625] on 18 February 1881.6 He succeeded as the 8th Earl of Seafield [S., 1701] on 18 February 1881.5 He succeeded as the 8th Viscount of Reidhaven [S., 1701] on 18 February 1881.5 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Ogilvy of Cullen [S., 1698] on 18 February 1881.5 He succeeded as the 8th Lord Ogilvy of Deskford and Cullen [S., 1701] on 18 February 1881.5 On his death, his barony expired.5
