     He was educated at St. Andrew’s University, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland.¹ He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers.¹ He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1929.¹ He lived at Beechwood, Murrayfield, Midlothian, Scotland^G.³

     Mabel Lancaster was the daughter of Henry Hill Lancaster.¹ She married Sir Robert Tuite Boothby, son of Colonel Robert Tod Boothby and Madeline Condie, on 27 September 1898.¹ She died on 9 May 1948.¹
     From 27 September 1898, her married name became Boothby.¹
