Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Michael Conolly Abel Smith was born on 3 December 1899.3 He was the son of Eustace Abel Smith and Aileen Geta Katherine Conolly.1,3 He married Lady Mary Elizabeth Carnegie, daughter of Charles Noel Carnegie, 10th Earl of Southesk and Ethel Mary Elizabeth Bannerman, on 28 December 1932.1 He died on 3 December 1985 at age 86.1
He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.)4 Vice-Admiral Sir Edward Michael Conolly Abel Smith usually went by his middle name of Conolly.1 He lived at Longhills, Lincolnshire, EnglandG.1
