Gustavus Hamilton, 2nd Viscount Boyne was born in 1710.1 He was the son of Hon. Frederick Hamilton and Sophia Hamilton.1 He died on 20 April 1746, unmarried.1 He was buried at Stackallan, County Meath, IrelandG.1
He was educated at Westminster School, Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Viscount Boyne, in the province of Leinster [I., 1717] on 16 September 1723.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Hamilton of Stackallan [I., 1715] on 16 September 1723.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Whig) for Newport, Isle of Wight between 1736 and 1741.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) [Ireland] on 9 August 1736.1 He held the office of Commissioner of the Revenue [Ireland] between 1737 and 1746.1 His last will was dated 5 April 1746.1
