     Captain Charles Shaw was born on 18 August 1785.² He was the son of Sir John Gregory Shaw, 5th Bt. and Hon. Theodosia Margaret Monson.¹ He married Frances Anne Hawley, daughter of Sir Henry Hawley, 1st Bt., on 13 April 1822.² He died on 2 May 1829 at age 43.¹
     He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹

     Frances Anne Hawley was the daughter of Sir Henry Hawley, 1st Bt.¹ She married Captain Charles Shaw, son of Sir John Gregory Shaw, 5th Bt. and Hon. Theodosia Margaret Monson, on 13 April 1822.³ She died on 11 December 1872.³
     From 13 April 1822, her married name became Shaw.¹

     Sir Henry Hawley, 1st Bt. was born on 12 November 1745.² He was the son of James Hawley and Elizabeth Banks.³ He married, firstly, Dorothy Ashwood, daughter of John Ashwood, on 10 August 1770.² He married, secondly, Anne Humphreys, daughter of William Humphreys, on 5 September 1785.² He died on 20 January 1826 at age 80.²
     He was created 1st Baronet Hawley, of Leybourne Grange, co. Kent [Great Britain] on 14 May 1795.¹

     Sir John Charles Kenward Shaw, 7th Bt. was born posthumously on 8 June 1829 at Pembury, Kent, England^G.¹ He was the son of Captain Charles Shaw and Frances Anne Hawley.¹ He married, firstly, Maria Sparkes, daughter of Henry Sparkes, on 19 June 1860 at Pembury, Kent, England^G.¹ He married, secondly, Sophia Emma Anna Maria Finch, daughter of Captain John William Finch, on 15 October 1868 at Pembury, Kent, England^G.¹ He died on 7 January 1909 at age 79, without issue.²
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England^G.¹ He matriculated at Merton College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, on 15 March 1849.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Kent.² He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Shaw, of the city of London [E., 1665] on 17 March 1857.¹ He lived at Kenward, Kent, England^G.¹

     Maria Sparkes was the daughter of Henry Sparkes.¹ She married Sir John Charles Kenward Shaw, 7th Bt., son of Captain Charles Shaw and Frances Anne Hawley, on 19 June 1860 at Pembury, Kent, England^G.¹ She died on 4 September 1863 at Kenward, Kent, England^G.¹
     From 19 June 1860, her married name became Shaw.¹

     Henry Sparkes lived at Summerberry, Shalford, Surrey, England^G.¹

     Sophia Emma Anna Maria Finch was the daughter of Captain John William Finch.¹ She married Sir John Charles Kenward Shaw, 7th Bt., son of Captain Charles Shaw and Frances Anne Hawley, on 15 October 1868 at Pembury, Kent, England^G.¹ She died on 2 August 1911.²
     From 15 October 1868, her married name became Shaw.¹

     Captain John William Finch lived at Knights Place, Pembury, Kent, England^G.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Navy.¹

     Sir John Michael Robert Best-Shaw, 10th Bt. was born on 28 September 1924.¹ He was the son of Sir John James Kenward Best-Shaw, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Mary Theodora Hughes.² He married Jane Gordon Guthrie, daughter of Alexander Gordon Guthrie, on 13 February 1960.¹ He died on 22 April 2014 at age 89.³
     He was educated at Lancing College, Lancing, Sussex, England^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1943 and 1945.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the Queen’s Own Royal West Kent Regiment.¹ He graduated from Hertford College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1950 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)¹ He was in the Royal Federation of Malaysia Police between 1950 and 1958.¹ He graduated from Hertford College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England^G, in 1955 with a Master of Arts (M.A.)¹ He graduated from London University, London, England^G, with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Educaton (P.G.C.E.)¹ He was involved primarily in church work between 1959 and 1971.¹ He was a teacher between 1972 and 1982.¹ He was admitted to Vintners’ Company, as a Liveryman.¹ He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Shaw, of the city of London [E., 1665] on 26 February 1984.¹ He lived in 2003 at 104 High Street, West Malling, Kent, England^G.¹

     Jane Gordon Guthrie is the daughter of Alexander Gordon Guthrie.¹ She married Sir John Michael Robert Best-Shaw, 10th Bt., son of Sir John James Kenward Best-Shaw, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Mary Theodora Hughes, on 13 February 1960.¹
     From 13 February 1960, her married name became Best-Shaw.¹
