He was a practising Advocate in 1730.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Dalrymple, of North Berwick, co. Haddington [N.S., 1698] on 21 August 1734.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington Burghs between 1742 and 1747.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington between 1747 and 1761.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Haddington Burghs between 1761 and 1768.2 He was Kiing’s Remembrancer of Scotland in 1768.2
