     George Arthur Arthur was born on 19 January 1851.¹ He was the son of Colonel Edward Penfold Arthur and Emma Isabella Wilson Souter.¹ He married Helen Thomson, daughter of Neale Thomson, on 19 August 1873.¹ He died on 20 September 1878 at age 27.¹

     Colonel Edward Penfold Arthur was born on 24 February 1825.¹ He was the son of Lt.-Gen. Rt. Hon. Sir George Arthur, 1st Bt. and Eliza Ord Ussher Smith.¹ He married Emma Isabella Wilson Souter, daughter of Captain Thomas Alexander Souter, in 1847.¹ He died on 9 June 1870 at age 45.¹
     He gained the rank of Colonel in the Bombay Staff Corps.¹

     Lt.-Gen. Rt. Hon. Sir George Arthur, 1st Bt. was born on 21 June 1784.² He was the son of John Arthur and Catherine Cornish.² He married Eliza Ord Ussher Smith, daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir John Frederick Sigismund Smith, in May 1814.² He died on 19 September 1854 at age 70.²

     John Arthur was baptised on 6 September 1732.¹ He was the son of John Arthur and Sarah Westlake.¹ He married Catherine Cornish, daughter of Thomas Cornish, on 3 March 1767.¹ He died on 24 January 1788 at age 55.¹

     Eliza Ord Ussher Smith was the daughter of Lt.-Gen. Sir John Frederick Sigismund Smith.¹ She married Lt.-Gen. Rt. Hon. Sir George Arthur, 1st Bt., son of John Arthur and Catherine Cornish, in May 1814.¹ She died on 14 January 1855.¹
     From May 1814, her married name became Arthur.¹
