Sir John Aird, 1st Bt.1 
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for Paddington North between 1887 and 1906.1 He held the office of Commissioner of the Lieutenancy of the City of London.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel in the Engineer and Railway Staff Corps, Royal Engineers.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Middlesex.1 He held the office of Mayor of Paddington between 1900 and 1901.1 He was created 1st Baronet Aird, of Hyde Park Terrace, Paddington, London [U.K.] on 5 March 1901.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.3
