Franziska Caroline de Bragança, Infanta de Portugal e Brasil was born on 2 August 1824 at Rio de Janeiro, BrazilG.3 She was the daughter of Dom Pedro IV de Bragança, Rei de Portugal and Maria Leopoldine Erzherzogin von Österreich.4 She married François Ferdinand d‘Orléans, Prince de France, son of Louis Philippe I d‘Orléans, Roi de France and Maria Amelia Teresa di Borbone, Principessa delle Due Sicilie, on 1 May 1843 at Rio de Janeiro, BrazilG.3 She died on 27 March 1898 at age 73 at Avenue d’Antin, Paris, FranceG.3 She was buried at Dreux, Department Eure et Loire, FranceG.5
She gained the title of Infanta de Brasil. She was given the name of Francisca Carolina Joana Leopoldina Romana Xavier de Paula Micaela Rafaela Gabriela Gonzaga at birth.3 She gained the title of Infanta de Portugal.1

François Ferdinand d‘Orléans, Prince de France was born on 14 August 1818 at Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris, Île-de-France, FranceG.3 He was the son of Louis Philippe I d‘Orléans, Roi de France and Maria Amelia Teresa di Borbone, Principessa delle Due Sicilie.4 He married Franziska Caroline de Bragança, Infanta de Portugal e Brasil, daughter of Dom Pedro IV de Bragança, Rei de Portugal and Maria Leopoldine Erzherzogin von Österreich, on 1 May 1843 at Rio de Janeiro, BrazilG.3 He died on 16 June 1900 at age 81 at Paris, FranceG.3 He was buried at Dreux, Department Eure et Loire, FranceG.5
He was given the name of François Ferdinand Philippe Louis Marie at birth.3 He gained the title of Prince François de France.1 He gained the title of Prince François de Joinville.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1836 in the French Navy.5 He fought in the Bombardment of San Juan de Ulloa in 1838, where he distinguished himself.5 In 1840 he brought the body of Napoleon back to Paris from St. Helena.5 He fought in the Campaign in Tangiers in 1845.5 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral.5 He fought in the American Civil War in 1865, on the Union side.5 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Golden Fleece of Spain.5 He fought in the Battle of Orléans in 1870.5 He held the office of Member of the National Assembly [France] between 1871 and 1876.5
