Wiltshire [U.K., 1961] on 12 October 2001.3 He lived in 2003 at Clarendon House, Manor House Stables, Middleham, Leyburn, Yorkshire, England.3

David Allan Bethell, 5th Baron Westbury1 

David Allan Bethell, 5th Baron Westbury was born on 16 July 1922.3 He was the son of Hon. Richard Bethell and Evelyn Lucia Millicent Hutton.3,4 He married Ursula Mary-Rose James, daughter of Hon. Robert James and Lady Serena Mary Barbara Lumley, on 21 October 1947.3 He died on 12 October 2001 at age 79.3
In 1930 he was granted the rank of baron’s younger son.4 He was educated at Harrow School, Harrow, London, England.4 He fought in the Second World War, where he was where he was mentioned in dispatches three times, and was wounded.4 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.3 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1943.3 He gained the rank of Captain in 1947 in the Scots Guards.3 He was Equerry to HRH the Duke of Gloucester between 1947 and 1949.3 He succeeded as the 5th Baron Westbury, of Westbury, co. Wiltshire [U.K., 1961] on 26 June 1961.1,4 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of North Riding, Yorkshire in 1973.3 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.) in 1977.3 He was appointed Bailiff, Grand Cross in 1988.3 He was appointed Bailiff Eagle Officer, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (O.St.J.) between 1988 and 1992.3 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1994.3 He lived in 2003 at Barton Cottage, Malton, Yorkshire, England.3
