William John Bankes1 
William John Bankes was born on 11 December 1786.1 He was the son of Henry Bankes and Frances Woodley.1,2 He was baptised on 8 January 1787 at St. Margaret, Westminster, London, England.2 He died on 15 April 1855 at age 68 at Venice, Italy, unmarried.1,2
He was educated between 1795 and 1801 at Westminster School, London, England.1 He was educated in 1803 at Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Truro between 2 July 1810 and 1812.1 He lived in 1815 at Soughton Hall, Flintshire, Wales.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Cambridge University between 27 November 1822 and 1826.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Merionethshire between 1829 and 1830.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Marlborough between 23 March 1829 and 1832.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Dorset between 1832 and 1834.1 On 4 July 1833 he was ‘returned a true bill’ by the grand jury of Westminster for a misdemeanour along with a private soldier, Thomas Flowers, and was to be tried by the Court of the King’s Bench.2
