Sir Alexander Entwisle Ramsay, 4th Bt. was born on 14 January 1837.2 He was the son of Sir Alexander Ramsay of Balmain, 3rd Bt. and Ellen Matilda Entwisle.2 He married, firstly, Octavia Haigh, daughter of Thomas Haigh, on 22 January 1863.2 He married, secondly, Caroline Charlotte Ireland, daughter of Thomas James Ireland and Elizabeth Welby, on 10 August 1880.2 He died on 1 October 1902 at age 65.2
