He was educated at Addiscombe Military College, Addiscombe, London, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Gwalior Campaign.1 He fought in the Indian Mutiny in 1857.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Dorset.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the Bengal Army.1 He succeeded as the 9th Baronet D’Oyly, of Shottisham, Norfolk [E., 1663] on 21 March 1869.1
